Your privacy is a priority — here's exactly what we do and don't collect.
The short version
Tripest is a travel-guide site, not a data-collection business. You don't need an account to read a guide, and we don't ask for personal information to use it. We store only your ad-consent choice and rely on ads to keep the guides free.
What we store
A single ad-consent preference ("all" or "essential"), kept in your browser's local storage so the consent banner doesn't reappear on every visit. It holds only that choice — no personal information, and it never leaves your device except as the consent signal passed to our advertising partner. If you sign in to plan a trip, we store only what that feature needs to work.
Guide data
The places, tips, and insights in each guide are compiled from real public sources — Wikivoyage, Wikipedia, and creator videos — collected and then checked for authenticity. Photographs are genuine, freely-licensed images (Wikimedia Commons). This is destination information, not your personal data.
Advertising
The site is supported by third-party advertising (Google AdSense), including in-page ad units and Google Auto Ads. Ads are shown either way — the choice is only whether they are personalized. By default, and if you choose "Essential only", ads are shown on a NON-PERSONALIZED basis: they are not based on a profile of you and rely on limited information such as the current page and general (non-precise) location. If you choose "Accept all", advertising partners may additionally set cookies to measure and personalize ads. In both cases Google processes limited data (e.g. IP address, user agent) to serve ads and prevent fraud, as described in Google's own privacy and advertising policies. What we don't do
We don't sell personal data and we don't build advertising profiles on you. Outbound links to partners (e.g. GetYourGuide, Amazon) are clearly marked and may be affiliate links.
Managing your data
You can withdraw ad consent at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which restores the consent banner on your next visit.
